Julius Malema Arrested for Speeding

There is never a dull moment with Julius Malema. The EFF Leader was arrested for speeding on his way from Bloemfontein to Johannesburg. He is alleged to have been driving at 215km/h in a area with a general speed limit of 120. I think it's the BMW. Juju just loves having our attention that's all. According to online media sources such as News24 he was released this morning on R5 000 bail. Apparently he had passengers on board his BMW 530d , no wonder her was charged with reckless and negligent driving plus exceeding the speed limit. Come on Julius!!!

On the same note Singer and Song Writer Steve Hofmeyr was also arrested for speeding. He was driving at 170km/h in an area with a 80km/h speed limit. The interesting thing is Hofmeyr's bail was R500 and yet Julius Malema's was R5 000. Hmmm??? According to iol.co.za  Hofmeyr was arrested on the N4 eastbound for allegedly speeding in the Bronkhorstspruit area while rushing to a concert at the Badplaas resort . Steve Hofmeyr is scheduled to appear in court on Monday.

GENERATIONS ACTRESS ARRESTED

Generation actress Maggie Benedict who plays Akhona was arrested for allegedly stealing pain killers priced at R17,95 at Shoprite Checkers, Cresta Mall in Randburg. She was arrested 2 days ago. The case has been postponed to the 28th of January 2014 and the Actress has been released from the Linden Police Station. To be arrested for allegedly stealing pain killers must be humiliating and can ruin one's reputation.The cause of this act is still unknown as the Actress herself nor her Lawyer have made a Press Release regarding the incident. If the rate of high profiled personalities being arrested goes up this festive season for such behavior, the only question to ask now is who is next behind bars? As we know celebrities are never without scandals or drama.

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are OFFICIALLY Engaged!!!

"If you like it put a ring on it ". Kanye surely does know that. Kim Kardashian got the best birthday present ever last night.Three months after giving birth to her bundle of joy baby ‘Nori’ as she is known, Kim Kardashian has yet another reason to keep a smile on her face. This comes after Kanye West popped the million dollar question.

E! News reported: “The E Star  is engaged to long time love Kanye West, the rapper popping the question in front of friends and family at AT&T Park in San Francisco”. According to E!News Kanye rented out San Jose Stadium. The rapper definitely pulled out all stops for the surprise proposal. It only gets bigger.

West presented Kardashian with a 15 carat diamond ring by celebrity jewellery Lorraine Schwarts and a 50-piece Orchestra played Lana Del Rey’s "Young and Beautiful", followed by one of Kanye’s best hits Knock You Down. Right after Kim said YES, fireworks and romantic candles explored into the night sky. (How romantic of Kanye).

This will be the third time for reality star Kim Kardashian and a first for Kanye West.  We are not sure yet how Kim feels about this but her family is more than excited as Kim’s mom Kris Jenner told E!News that Kim and Kanye are a match made in heaven and sister Khloe took it to twitter to express her excitement tweeting: “Wow!!! Am I dreaming, Tears of Joy!!! Wow”

We wish the couple all the best and we can’t wait to see their wedding, well that’s if we will get to see it. If you ask me, Kim has been private as of lately and I highly doubt she is in a position to put herself out there again, after her last marriage. But hey, she might surprise me. The Kardashians are unpredictable or are they?Enough about what I think, the question on everyone’s lips though is whether or not soon to be Mr&Mrs West will televise their big day. Guess we will have to wait and see.

MTV Base crowns their new VJ

The MTV Base Africa search was launched in February 2005 throughout the continent. It has indeed proven to be a force to be reckoned with as the numbers of hopefuls seem to increase year after year. MTV is a prominent 24 hour music and entertainment  which focuses on Rn'b, Hip hop, Reggae, Soul and Urban music. It has become a tradition that every year MTV base goes in search for the next big presenter and this year was no exception. MTV teamed up with Citroen where they were giving away a DS3 Carbrio worth R315 000 to one lucky star. Not only did the winner stand a chance to walk away with a car, but a year contract with MTV base as well.

 Drumroll......and the winner of the MTV BASE Search for 2013 is…….. Sandile Ntshingila!!!

The MTV base search had the Social Networks buzzing and hopefuls auditioned for the show which resulted in three finalists who were voted for by the viewers. All eyes were on Sandile Ntshingila, Tsholo Gontse Semenya and Cyprian Ndlovu as they geared up to the grand finale of the MTV base search hosted at Melrose Arch but like always they can only be one winner and 23 year old Sandile came out victorious.

From being an IT Technician to a presenter of one of the hottest music show in South Africa, Sandile has proved that giving up should never be an option after his audition last year was unsuccessful. Second time is a charm, well in Sandile’s case that is. His positive attitude definitely paid off in the end. Judging by his performances during the MTV base VJ search processes, viewers are in for an exciting season of MTV Base.

Following in the footsteps of Sizwe Dlomo, Fikile Moeti and Nomuzi Mabena, Sandile will interview stars, MC entertainment events, attend red carpet events and travel the world. His first appearance as the new MTV Base VJ will appear on Thursday 31 0ctober 2013, 18:00 CAT. Tune in, on MTV Base on DStv channel 322 for the hottest happenings on local and international music and entertainment. 

MNet presents Big Brother MZANSI

Attention all Big Brother lovers. Your favourite show will be hitting your screens earlier than expected, only this time it has a little twist. So step aside Big Brother Africa and let Big Brother Mzansi make it's way.

Following the vibe and success surrounding Big Brother Africa, not to mention the overwhelming response, MNet and Mzansi Magic have decide to give their viewers  an early Christmas present. AGE AIN'T NOTHING BUT A DIGIT...

Achieving anything is possible. If it does not happen at your own pace, it doesn't mean it will never happen. Patience pays. At 82 years of age Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu is living proof that dreams do come true and that one never stops learning.  The former opponent of the Apartheid regime, dreamt of becoming a doctor but due to financial struggles he couldn't, however through motivation and obviously passion and focus Archbishop Tutu is pursuing his childhood dream. 

Desmond Tutu attended classes at the Stellenbosch University’s medical school last month proving once again that in life you either give up or give it all you have.Such motivation from someone considered to be an icon is encouraging and motivating for our society. Education plays a very important role as it is well known and has been proven. I know from experience that without good education, I would not be where I am today. Education does not guarantee a better life, but it is by far the best way to ensure choices for the future.

The importance of Education cannot be measured. It's value is unmatchable.Education is one of the tools, the means and the mental vehicles through which an individual can break down the shackles of poverty. It enriches and broadens the mind to break symptoms of ignorance. Education can be utilised to enhance the capabilities and the ingrained natural intelligence. Education is your future. It opens the minds of human beings to limitless opportunities and possibilities. You need to continue to learn so long as you want to prosper in life.

Some say it’s just for assurance to get a job, but I beg to differ, education is the basic foundation of our everyday life.Some of the most successful entrepreneurs might be university or college drop outs, but were eager to purse their ideas and dreams and constantly looking to learn and made it without an education nonetheless education remains a powerful tool.

Education is the only tool that someone else can never take away from you and the only tool that you earn yourself. You can reach and attain success through education. I think some people have to re-adjust their thinking about their future. There is no job that’s tough, no task that’s impossible. If you can’t climb over it, swim around it. If you can’t swim around it, blow it up and wade through the rubble. The same applies to education. You just have to set your sights high, the higher the better. Expect the most wonderful things to happen, not in the future but right now. Realize that nothing is too good. Allow absolutely nothing to hamper you or hold you up in any way.The greatest treasure that can be achieved begins with education. If Desmond Tutu can do it, we all can do it. Education is The Way!

Would you sign a contract that obligates you to share your partner with someone else? Well last week two Kenyan men did and if it’s anything to go by there are happy with their agreement.

In an interview with BBC Focus on Africa Mr Mwendwa had this to say about the contract: ‘Our agreement is good as it sets boundaries and helps us keep peace’ Sylvester Mwandwa and Elikem Kimani signed a contract in which they promised never to fight over the woman, who happened to be dating both of them at the same time and agreed to take turns to live with her.

Apparently they discovered they had been sharing a woman for four years, seeing that they could not live without her ‘sharing’ was the next best thing. It appears that the woman who is a widow and a mother of twins could not choose between her two lovers either.  "I cannot choose either one of them". I love them both she said. The contract includes rules about the shift in the house, respect for one another and that if the woman gives birth, both men will raise the child as their own. Sounds fair enough, if you come to think of it.

This practise is well known as ‘Polyandry’ which is the act of a woman having more than one husband. Polyandry is not practised in Kenya neither is it forbidden.I’ve basically never heard of a woman who has a closed relationship with two or more man. It’s a rare. I think there is too much competition in such cases. As humans we are prone to jealousy it’s just our nature. For a while the excitement of the situation might make it okay, but in the end someone will always end up getting hurt. Nevertheless if everyone is happy and on equal terms it becomes easy.

 Most of us know of Polygamy in the sense of one husband having many wives,which is practised all over the world but polyandry is a rare practise. But then again women should be given the same opportunities that men have. Some argue that if everyone is happy and in love then why not share. After all sharing is caring right? Whereas others differ stating its barbaric and bizarre and and act of betrayal.  Do you think it’s immoral? Would you be open to ‘sharing’ or do you believe in the belief that says ‘What’s yours is yours and nobody else’. After all most people have come to accept and value polygamy, polyandry is no less than it.

MILEY CYRUS' S VMA’s PERFORMANCE

Twerking has become a popular subject as of lately. Some love it. Some hate it. Even though some hate to love it , either way it has kept people talking. The MTV MVAs are one of the most watched Award ceremonies in the world. This year they came with a bit of spin in the mix.Musician and actress Miley Cyrus was on everyone's tongue, almost everyone i guess. Twitter was buzzing with her performance , never mind the mixed reviews from viewers all over the world. This is one MTV award ceremony that will make it onto the moments or scandals that made 2013..Well done Miley Cyrus. if that was a PR move then you got our attention. Miley Cyrus also known as "Hannah Montana" to many is not new to our Tv Screens. She rose to stardom as a Disney actress through the teen series Hannah Montana. She has also released 3 Albums to her name and some deserving awards any Teen star would dream of.

Seems like Jamie Fox’s prediction was correct well sort of, when he said Miley Cyrus would end up on a stripper pole. Miley Cyrus might not have ended up stripping but she ended up twerking. Nevertheless her twerking clearly isn't for everyone as it has sparked various reactions from people. Who would have known or anticipated that the sweet, lovely, young former Disney star ‘Hannah Montana’ would be on our screens "twerking" it. 

We could play the devil's advocate and say she ‘grown up’. Let's face it our childhood stars do have a life of their own and they do grow up.This image change is certainly a trend in Hollywood. They start their careers innocent and over night they change. Miley certainly transitioned from the debut she made on our screen  to what is she is now.

A perfect example of a "good girl gone bad" is Pop star Rihanna. Look at how her brand transitioned into this sexy Pop siren. some of her fans to date miss the old Rihanna that rose to stardom with her track "pon de replay". The difference is her image change fitted well with Rihanna's rebel character. Miley Cyrus performance at the VMA’s was ratchet that it has been described by many as bold and shocking. Performing her dance hit “We can’t stop" and Blurred Lines with Robin Thicke in a bra and undies Miley stole the show with her tongue sticking and twerking moves that left many in disbelief. Critics claim her dressing (or let me rather say state of undress) was vulgar and slutty. Quite a few people mentioned that her parents must be ashamed, but judging from Dad (Bill Ray Cyrus)'s comments he was proud of his daughter.

Judging from this image above we can say Miley has definitely been having some practise. What do you think? As they say ‘Good girls ain’t no fun and the bad girls ain’t no good". Miley is looked at by some as a role model but hey Rihanna made it clear when she once said "No one campaigns for being a role model nor is it a title". Musician Adam Lambert came to Cyrus defence when asked about his view on the performance "listen if it wasn't your cup of tea- all good but why is everyone spazzing, hey she’s doing something right. We all talking" 

Paula Patton (Robin Thick's wife) was not fazed by all this since she had seen the rehearsals. On the family front it looks like Miley's Dad has her back. As for Mum Tish Cyrus she has been numb about the whole situation as he said "Thanking God for so many blessing tonight. Continue to pray for world peace. More love less hate”. Personally i love the path Miley Cyrus has taken. She’s done a great job staying positive after the backlash she has been receiving from the media towards her engagement to Liam Hemsworth. However to see her throw that kind of performance caught me off guard. Nonetheless have fun girl, do your thang!! You are damned if you do, damned if you don't.

HOW FAR WILL YOU GO TO LOOK PERFECT???

Why spend years talking about your low self-esteem and lack of confidence when you can undergo a plastic surgery for a minimum of four hours and walk away looking and feeling brand new?  Generally celebrities need their good looks to earn a living therefore they will stop at nothing to mantain their great image. Khanyi Mbau is living proof of this as she went under the knife yet again to perfect her looks and she wasn't shy to let the world in her transformation as she took pictures of herself during the process. This time around she opted for a facelift.  A ‘vampire face’ lift as it’s called, with Blood.

 It’s not the first time that the mother of one has considered plastic surgery she has done a breast augmentation, something very popular in this field. However she is not the only South African to have gone under the knife. The likes of Sandy Ngema (breast reduction), Uyanda Mbuli (nose job)  and Mshoza (as shown below) have definitely spent some time in the Surgeon's office under the knife. Mshoza for one definitely shocked her fans as she also went through a skin lightening procedure. i guess the term "black is beautiful" differs from one to another...

Cosmetic Surgery gives us control over one thing ‘our physical appearance’. Surgery seems to conceal our desires for physical perfection. It has been the ultimate answer to those who do not feel good about themselves. With enough money and effort anyone can attain it. Gone are the days when only the rich can attain surgery. Alternatives are available through First Health Finance that offers loans to people who can't afford the surgery they desire.

Cosmetic surgery is considered relatively cheaper in SA compared to UK or USA. Looking at the table below one has to re- consider what the term “relatively cheap” means. In a world in which we are judged by how we appear, the belief that we can change our appearance is liberating to some. Surgery is becoming increasingly popular. To feel good, you have to look good.  Some say it changes lives and others denounce it as the expression of our society’s worst impulses. People all over the world are trying to reach perfection no matter what it takes. Most people have become more open about their desire to be attractive and celebrities have made that loud and clear. With their love for Botox, liposuction injections, face lifts and tummy tucks these operations are becoming trendy.

Is going under the knife the best way to feel good about yourself or is it a bit too much and people should learn to accept themselves the way there are?  What do you think?

SEX SCANDAL HANGING OVER HIS HEAD

 A leader is a leader not for his natural abilities and skills to be the head of a team or organization only. He is also a leader because of his character, his true character of course.Leaders are given the opportunity to lead because of the belief and trust that they represent  the ultimate status of what is good in society. I believe a leader must conduct himself in a respectful manner, after all we look up to these people and we believe in them. But what happens when a leader fails us? Do we close our eyes in disbelief or do we forgive, forget and move on? .The Congress of South African Trade Union (COSATU)'s Secretary General Zwelinzima Vavi made headlines when he was accused of being involved in a sex scandal with a married woman . Apparently the President of the workers union sexually assaulted a female employee. The woman alleges that Vavi raped her in January.

"He’s a big man, when I got up he grabbed me and then kissed me. Then he locked the door" she revealed in a statement on Sunday Times, before withdrawing the charges This however has raised question marks as to the real reason for her decision to withdraw these charges. Why drop charges if you felt strongly that you were raped, why the sudden change? Vavi had a different story to tell when asked, he claimed that the sex was consensual between two people who had feelings for each other.

How you commit an act of infidelity and then defend it by saying it was consensual while still married is a debate for another day. '‘I have to be truthful to the public. I have had to deal with my family for not being faithful and it is a difficult matter. I apologize to everyone for having had  an affair while I have a perfect marriage. I shouldn't have done that, it was a bad error on my side, I shouldn't have had a relationship at all” Vavi told City Press.

He went on to defend himself in East London while addressing SA democratic Teachers Union "Everybody makes mistakes unless if it’s an angel from heaven. I have said that I must be judged based on standards that I have set for myself". One has to keep in mind that it’s not the first time that Vavi has been involved in allegations of an affair. His marriage of 12 years to his ex wife Nikiwe ended amid allegations of infidelity in 2007. Proving that once a cheat always a cheat, well that’s what they say.

Even after the corruption watch has censured him. He is still adamant that he will not step down. Makhaya Ntini was also accused of rape in 1999 and this was seen as part of a conspiracy to ruin Ntini’s career. That makes me wonder if Vavi facing the same dilemma? Is this a dirty tactic yet again? Or rather are women used as bait in a political game?. This might lead some to think that with a bit of political influence, you can get away with just about  anything. What does this say about our country and the attitude of men towards infidelity as well as rape.

Cosatu is yet to comment on whether or not Vavi is to face internal disciplinary for his scandalous act. However they have asked Zwelinzima to explain the process he followed to appoint the Cosatu junior employee and to explain the nature of their relationship. Vavi reportedly faces three possible charges of having sex with a subordinate at Cosatu's headquarters, irregularly hiring her and bringing Cosatu into disrepute as stated by The New Age.

Vavi maintains that he will pursue the extortion charges he has laid against the woman, this comes after she demanded a R2 million to keep her mouth shut.  Zwelinzima’s fate is still yet to be known. Will he be relieved of his duties or will he be given a second chance? All this is to be revealed soon hopefully.

CHRIS BROWN MAKES A SHOCKING ANNOUNCEMENT

You won’t believe what Chris brown’s next move is… well sort of. The truth of the matter is are we not exactly sure and neither is Chris.Fame comes along with a lot of things and Chris Brown has learned that the hard way.  Breezy took to Twitter to announce that his new album, soon to be released end of this month might be his last.

When Chris Brown assaulted Rihanna back in 2009 the world reacted and everyone had an opinion be it good or bad. From being called an abusive bastard to some calling it a mistake this incident was on everyone's tongue. Amidst the critics and judgments we all thought the Chris Brown and Rihanna incident was dusted and buried. However it seems like we got it all wrong as the incident is the reason as to why Breezy wants to close the chapter of his music career.  He took to Twitter to inform his followers about his plans regarding his career path. Looks like Breezy had second thoughts a he later deleted the tweets.

He went on to address his incident in with ex- girlfriend Rihanna by stating "Being famous is amazing when it’s for your music and talent. I’m tired of being famous for a mistake I made when I was 18. I’m cool and over it”- Chris brown

Turns out the ‘Don’t judge me’ track did not do him justice at all.. He might be over but are we? He is still constantly being judged and reminded of his ‘Mistake’ as he calls his beating of ex- girlfriend Riri. It’s quite obvious the ‘Diamond’ singer has moved on and forgiven Chris as she confessed to Oprah on her OWN Interview. 

If we have to play the devil's advocate we could say mistakes big or small are part of the human journey. He did a dumb thing and disappointed everybody. Do people ever forget or move on from  incidents like this one? Just like no one ever forget the Milli Vanilli incident or the doping incident regarding Lance Armstrong or the OJ Simpson incident. Which is the lesser evil???

Some people refer to him as the "troubled singer" who assaulted his ex-girlfriend Rihanna in 2009, not as the award winning artist, who is one of the best dancers in the world. Raising your hand to a woman, is a NO GO TO AREA. He might have grown up without a role model or great father figure in life, but that’s no excuse to justify laying your hands on a woman.

Women abuse is one of the most painful things that women face in their everyday life and I can’t imagine how these women feel but one thing for sure it’s unbearable. Brown played with fire and he got burnt. I remember the time when Radio stations and Television shows were no longer playing his music. That’s tough especially for an Artist trying to make it big in the entertainment industry but then again Chris Brown is not trying to make it in the Industry. He is a well established Artist. Was the penalty of this incident justified? I’m not sure about the whole quitting part, let’s all face it, apart from everything Chris is a great singer and a phenomenal dancer. If i was his PR consultant or Manager i would not be for this idea, think of his over 10 million twitter followers and his fans all over the world. As  he said ‘Probably’. He is still skeptical or is he? Guess we have to wait and see.

Hate them or love them - PAPARAZZI gone too far??

Has the Paparazzi gone too far, one may ask? In light of Kim Kardashian hooking up with Kanye West and bringing their bundle of joy into the world, the Paparazzi has surely gone crazy. 

How far can they possibly go in desperation of a picture of little "Nori" as she is affectionately known. They will stop at nothing to get what they want and I mean nothing. One has to wonder if their efforts, passion, time and patience is worthy of admiration or criticism especially if it comes at the price of one's privacy. They just never seize to amaze me.

It’s been over a month now since reality star Kim Kardashian gave birth to baby ‘Nori’ and we have yet to see both mother and daughter. With the public so curious and anxious to know what North West looks like they are certainly relying on the Paparazzi to snap that one perfect picture.  The 32 year old got quite a scare

One intruder was chased away by "Momager" Kris Jenner. Kim took it to Twitter to share what was happening: ‘Okay there is a paparazzi that snuck into our gated community’

It wasn't a fully bad day for Kim as it’s reported the Carters stopped by to visit Kim and North and spent the whole morning at the Jenner house. After all there is no bad blood between these two power couples.

Whether it’s a candid or unflattering moment, the Paparazzi will be right there to capture it all. They have been stereotyped as being aggressive and intrusive, it all makes sense taking into account that the name Paparazzi is taken from an Italian name called “Paparazzo’ which is used to describe an annoying sound made by a buzzing mosquito. So befitting i would say. I believe there is a fine line between taking a picture and being over the top and the Paparazzi tends to cross that line.

Basically their job is to take pictures to create a story that will satisfy their readers. They get paid for this right? Let’s all be honest and give them some credit, they indeed step up their game in bringing us  the

exclusive, the bad, the good and the ugly pictures of our favorite celebrities. On the other hand celebrities too have a role to play on this as they want publicity.Most of them have been too open allowing the public easy access to their lives. Some even use the paparazzi when it’s inconvenient for them.

Recently a photographer called Chris Guerra was hit by a car and died on the scene while chasing Justin Bieber’s car. According to E! News the singer released a statement sending his condolences to the victims family and friends. It’s such cases that make me concerned about the level of celebrity obsession. Or is it? Is losing your life worth it? Will we ever see a world where the Paparazzi will lay off a little bit and allow celebrities to live a normal life away from the stalking and chasing but then again celebrities are all aware of the fact that in this field privacy is nothing but an illusion or is it? 

On the flip side of things South Africa hasn't adapted to this whole Paparazzi madness and we hope it stays that way.

HIS ROYAL HIGHNESS,THE PRINCE OF CAMBRIDGE HAS ARRIVED!!!!

 

The wait is over…The Royal baby has arrived!The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have welcomed their bundle of joy on earth. After 9 months and 10 and a half hours of waiting Kate Middleton finally gave birth to a bouncing baby boy. The news came 4 hours after the royal baby was born. The Duchess welcomed their bundle of joy at the St Mary’s Hospital in Kensington Palace, London the same hospital were Prince William was born 31 years ago. Kensington Palace released these two statements:

 

“Prince William’s wife Kate gives birth to her 1st Child, a boy, baby weighs 8Ibs 6oz, born at the 4:24pm.” Both mother and child are doing well, Kensington Palace”.

 

 Although the name of the baby is yet to be revealed, he has been given a title of which he will be addressed by. The royal baby will be addressed as HRH Prince of Cambridge, a title that has not been used over 190 years. Another interesting factor regarding the royal baby is the fact that the arriving of the royal baby will mark a first ever three male heirs to the throne to be alive at the same time, being Charles, William and the new baby.

When the news hit across the world the excitement was unbearable for many people. A large crowd gathered outside the hospital singing “Happy birthday baby royal”. Social medias and online newspapers were buzzing with messages to the royal couple showering them with well wishes, parenting advice and some going as far as even suggesting baby names, the most liked being James. The Prince of Wales issued a statement expressing his joy as well:

“The Duchess of Cornwale and I are overjoyed at the arrival of my first grandchild. It is an incredible special moment for William and Catherine and we are so thankful for them on the birth of their baby boy. Grandparenthood is a unique moment in anyone’s life, as countless kind people told me in recent months so I am enormously proud and happy to be a grandfather for the first time and we are eagerly looking forward to seeing the baby in the near future”. 

Prince William also shared his delight: “We could not be happier”. We certainly can’t wait to see the ‘Wonderful and beautiful baby’ as the Royal Doctor Mr Setchell described him and we are so anxious to know the baby’s name. Well wishes to the new parents. We wish them the best as they embark on this new chapter of their lives.
